Birding 202 - Shorebirds

Starts Wed, Jul 12, 2023

Are you ready to bring your birding to the next level? Look no further! Birding 202 is an advanced birding class designed to give experienced birders the structure, knowledge, and tools to bird with confidence when looking at shorebirds along the LA River. This time, classes will be online (but field trip in person), so that participants don’t need to drive through LA traffic on weekday afternoons/evenings.

This course is made up of two online classroom sessions in the evenings of July 12 and 13, 2023 (Wednesday, Thursday), from 7–9pm. A class link will be sent to all participants. There will also be a field trip on July 15 starting at 7am along the LA River. Participants are expected to attend both classes and the field trip.

To sign up, fill out the form below. Registration is $40 and you must be a LAB member. The class size is limited and there is no waiting list.

About your instructor Dessi Sieburth: Dessi is a junior at Stanford University. Dessi started birding at age 8. By age 11, Dessi had birded, sketched, studied, photographed, and read every field guide and bird book he could get his hands on. He earned the ABA Young Birder of the Year Award in 2015. Dessi has published several articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Ornithology and Western Birds.

Currently signup is limited to LAB members, who will receive an email with instructions for how to sign up.
