Leader: Tony Metcalf
Join us for an all-day field trip to the San Jacinto Wildlife Area in Riverside County, one of the premier locations in Southern California for wintering waterfowl, shorebirds, and raptors. It is an excellent opportunity to see species not commonly found in coastal Los Angeles, such as Mountain Bluebird, American Bittern, and Ferruginous Hawk. And who knows what else we may find—the area has hosted wintering Wood Sandpiper, Little Stint, and Black-headed Gull in recent years. The trip will be a mix of walking on flat ground and driving through the wildlife area.
