Birding the Eastern Sierras is absolutely amazing! With a variety of habitats, there are many species of birds that reside or pass through this area. From riparian woodland, to pinion and juniper forests, desert areas with Joshua trees, to freshwater streams and lakes, there is plenty to see and enjoy. Traveling from the valley floor up into the mountains, climates change at different elevations and bird species also change.

Some of the birds seen in the Eastern Sierras include: many woodpeckers, swallows, sparrows — including Bell’s, Sagebrush and Black-throated, grosbeaks, bluebirds, thrashers, and the most notable, the Sooty Grouse and the Greater Sage-Grouse.

It is definitely a location to visit for incredible birding and great scenery!
